Chambord is the French black raspberry liqueur built on a blend of black raspberries, blackberries, black currant, Madagascar vanilla, citrus, honey, and Cognac.
Modeled on a raspberry liqueur said to date to the Loire Valley of the late 1600s, Chambord layers whole-fruit raspberry and blackberry over a Cognac base, then rounds it with honey and vanilla. The result is rich and fruit-forward but balanced, with a deep berry character that reads as luxurious rather than candied. At 16.5% ABV it is soft enough to use freely in cocktails and sparkling drinks.
It is the defining ingredient in the French Martini and the Kir Impérial (a splash in Champagne), and it lifts everything from spritzes to dessert cocktails. The round, orb-shaped bottle with its crown-like collar is one of the most recognizable on the back bar.
Tasting Notes
